Detox With Gingerbread Chai

Most people start their detoxing ways on the New Year, but instead how about we detox before the holidays? Starting off the hectic, stressful season with a full heart and healthy digestive system is just what we need to be able to handle all that wine we will be drinking. There are many different detoxes but I suggest not going full on “juice and soup” this time and going more “no alcohol, less coffee, more fresh food, lots of raw”. We just want to clean our system out before all the turkey and dressing, not deprive ourselves of yumminess. I turned to Goop, Gwyneth Paltrow’s website, for inspiration. There are ton of detox tips and recipes but this one is definitely my favorite!  Plus, this Chai Gingerbread Shake is served warm to kick those hot cocoa habit!




1 cup warm brewed rooibos chai tea (easy to find)

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon allspice

2 teaspoons ground ginger (or a tablespoon or two of fresh squeezed ginger juice)

1/2 cup almond or coconut milk

2 tablespoons almond butter

coconut nectar, raw honey or stevia to taste

optional: 1 scoop protein powder of your choice

Blend until smooth.

Drink before it cools for optimal digestion and to warm you up.
